Miss Nevada nails it!

And gets stripped....

Be it from her title of Miss Nevada all because of stupid gossip and photos like:

Miss Nevada nails

miss nevada

Miss-ed opportunity for manicure products

Look at the nail beauty of Miss Nevada's nail: her nails are in perfect health, no nail fungus or anything like that, and nicely groomed with French manicure. Not like the nail care of Britney spears in the previous post, whom by now we wish somebody has given her a manicure set with some nail polish remover for Christmas.

Next time you have beauty on your nails, don't over expose your other body parts: nails can be sexy, manicured nails can be subtle and show of your taste and elegance. Exposing "too much fun" can cause you your title and your reputation.

Britney Spears Naked?

Britney Spears Naked?

Britney Spears Kevin Federline hot video...

French ManicureThe picture on the right of Britney Spears in a car is circulating the Internet, the other recognizable face is Paris Hilton. Looks like Paris got her manicure right :-) Yet then this picture is accompanied by pictures of again Britney Spears bearing it all... Must be all riding "the fake" bandwagon, as people are looking all over for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline , not Britney on her own or supposedly in a car with Paris Hilton... But this is a site about French manicure pictures... or the case of our famous couple: the lack of French manicure pictures...

Britney Spears needs a manicure (9th November)

black nail polishReality looks much less glamorous and sexy...

Look at her nails in this far from French nail manicure picture: chipped black nail polish is still visible on half of her nails...

No nail polish remover or no time, or just a bad nail day?

Wait 4 days later and then have a look at her nails again...

Britney Spears really needs nail polish remover (13th November)

nail polish remover

4 days later than the previous far from a cute French manicure picture... and yet... enlarge for detail... still no nail polish remover?

I mean this divorce, the video, 2 little children on her feet and no husband to help her out... It shows on her nails... Even a few minutes of nail polish remover could really have made a better impression...

So you can only imagine she has more on her hands now than looking for a good nail cure.

We are looking forward to a new Britney Spears manicure like I posted August 13th 2006.

Korean Nail Art

French manicure in Malaysia

Walking around in the Japanese Isetan (KLCC Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) supermarket yesterday, there was a small exhibition on how to do French manicure. Pity my nails were all nicely done already, so I only had one nail to offer for their special nail care: a simple and cute one minute manicure.

Korean nail art expert Kim Mi-Won

nail art and designThis French manicure exhibition coincided with the visit of Kim Mi-Won: she is a Korean nail art expert and won already several prizes all over the world and became a nail art judge herself. Mi-Won is one of the most talented nail treatment and nail care artists in the world today.

Currently Mi-Won is:

  • the president of the Korean Nail Expert Association (KoNEA)

  • is the key figure behind the world-renowned International NailXpert Group.

Mi-Won is not only an excellent nail artist, she also educates others to become nail artists.

I will add some more of Kim Mi-Won's nail in the next French manicure pictures posts

Kelly Chen paints her nails dark

Sexy nails or rather a sexy pose? For you to decide :-) Personally, I wouldn't sit in a position like this painting my nails with dark nail polish on a white sofa...

Kelly Chen picture

Kelly Chen: a HongKong famous singer is seen here painting her nails. Not really a French manicure: her nail treatment is reduced to a "1 pot nail polish". Except for the pose, it is a very fast and realistic way of nail care.

A possible result of this 1 pot dark nail polish can be seen in the Kelly Chen wallpaper above: a down to earth nail polish, yet all good enough for a photo-shoot... So for sure good enough for your every day nail care.

Xiaxue bite nails!

Look how sexy Xiaxue bite nails and then see how Xiaxue French manicured nails are no match for chocolate :-)

Xiaxue also bites nails...

Do you have the habit of biting nails? Singapore-based Xiaxue (aka Wendy Chen : winner of Best Asian Weblog) can be seen biting her nails on her blogspot.

xiaxue bite nails

Yet does she? The easiest way to remind you that you shouldn't bite your nails is using no bite nail polish! Would that be Xiaxue's nail secret?

Xiaxue does not bite nails....

xiaxue nail care

In stead, Xiaxue prefers chocolate as her nail vitamins: and Xiaxue has lovely French nails, which is needed as she types a lot...

When do we bite nails? When we are nervous or tense, some people tend to bite nails. Freud would tell you it's an oral thing... Yet, if you take good care of your nails, biting nails is no good for nothing.

Now pretending to bite nails like Xiaxue does, of course makes Xiaxue looking more sexy... no need for Freud to explain a mans' mind :-)

How not to bite nails?

If you have anything around to keep your mouth occupied (chewing gum, sweets, chocolates...), chances are small you start attacking your nails. When you are Chinese like me, then you use a toothpick :-)

You could buy expensive artificial nails: you will think twice before you start biting those!!!

5 Nail care tips (5)

Nail Products

manicure productsChoose your nail products wisely. Some nail products can cause rashes on the fingers or around the eyes since buffing or filing can cause small particles to enter the air. Some of the most damaging products are in nail hardeners. If you change brand of nail products and you see some problems rising on your nails, chance is big that the new brand of nail products is not suitable for you.

5 Nail care tips (4)

Artificial nails

no natural nail careDon't always apply artificial nails over your own, because they destroy the underlying nail. The chemicals and glue used for these nails are dangerous to the body, and are readily absorbed through the damaged nail and nail bed.

The use of artificial nails has been known to contribute to the development of fungal infection of the fingernails.

5 Nail care tips (3)

Tips to prevent nail fungal infections

nail fungus It is easier to prevent nail fungus than to get rid of nail fungus,so read the following nail fungus prevention tips:

Avoid getting your nails and skin underneath to be damp-wet constantly:

  • Keep your feet dry, avoid constant moisture
  • Avoid nonporous, closed shoes made of synthetic materials
  • Wear absorbent socks if you need to wear sock
  • Wear water proofed sandals when in public showers so you don't get contaminated by other peoples' nail fungus

5 Nail care tips (2)

Nail Care inspections...

manicure setsHave a close look at your nails: look out for signs of nail infection like redness, pain, swelling around the nails or pus.

Make sure to let your nails get lots of fresh air and lots of light. this prevents nail fungus to grow: as we all know: fungus likes to grow in warm, dark and wet places.

The plates of your nails are porous so the skin underneath can dry quickly. Nail polishes make your nails "waterproofed". The skin under your nails stay wet longer and makes it more easy for nail fungus infection.

Lighter shades of nail polish help the light get through the nail: again: nail fungus don't like light.

5 Nail care tips (1)

To help keep you nails healthy, I will post a series of 5 nail care tips.

nail productsNail Polish remover

Use nail polish remover with caution. Nail polish remover can dry the nails and your cuticles. Neither try not to repair nail enamel every day. After using nail polish remover, apply nail cream abundantly. I personally don't use special nail cream, I always use Skin Repair (Dry Skin Cream) from Rosken.

Gwen Stefani French manicure nails

This French manicure picture was taken when Gwen Stefani was pregnant in march 2006. Look at the length of her nails on her left hand (in the right of the picture...).

3 French manicure nail tips

Gwen Stefani French manicure nailsNail polish protects your nails as it acts as a barrier to chemicals. A base coat will allow your nail-polish to last longer. If your nails are dry, soak them for 10 minutes twice daily in warm water, pat dry followed by applying a chemically enhanced moisturizer containing urea, lactic acid or glycerin oil.

Do not grow excessively long nails: long nails are too prone to break.

Avoid using your nails to do pick-up tasks. In stead, use the soft ends of your fingers or put a piece of paper in your hands and lift up the small object. Otherwise your nails could chip and break off.

How to use your little finger for French manicure art

French manicure pictures Britney Spears

When are French nails too long?

What is too long when it comes to French nails? If you look at Britney Spears French nails and how she holds the camera, I would say she is not comfortable with the length of her nails. Yet she doesn't have to type, so she can adjust the length of her nails to her needs.

Long French nails on the little finger

Here in Asia, lots of people keep the nail of their little finger much longer than the rest of their nails. The idea of this extra long nail I rather not disclose here.

But this long nail doesn't interfere with your daily handling of objects. And: it is an ideal nail to do some extra art of French manicure. Look at the little, cute butterfly on the French manicured little finger nail. French Manicure Pictures Little Finger

French DIY manicure: French nail tips

French manicure nail tipsYou can buy these plastic French nail tips. All you need to do to get a French manicure is to stick these nail tips onto the tips of your own nails with the glue included. Expect to put a good three quarters of an hour aside to fit the French nail tips on your hands.

First and foremost: choose French nail tips that fit your nails!

You do need to make the surface of your original nails slightly rough so the glue sticks better on the French nail tips. The nail tip is glued onto your nail so that approximately half you natural nail is still exposed.

You then cover both your nail and the tip with the glue. Use only enough glue so you can't feel the join when you file the nail smooth. Be warned: the nail glue sets quickly and is extremely adhesive and can be quite painful if you catch you skin by mistake. Then you need to set the nail by putting a couple of drops of the setting solvent on it using the pipette. After this you just file your nail on the edge and the surface to get the shape you want.

You'll probably need to fill in the bottom of your nail where it's grown every week though.

French nail tips are easy to remove by soaking them for a prolonged period in warm water.

French manicure painted by hand

french manicure practice pictureIf on a piece of paper, your drawing skills are admired by the ones around you, you could also try your painting skills on your nails or your girlfriends nails. If you are very good, you could enter French manicure contests... If you are a French manicure amateur like me, you can only dream about the French nails on the picture.

Yet the main idea of this pedicure picture is: don't limit your imagination on just one nail:

try to paint your manicure design flowing over more than one nail.

The French manicure picture in this post is hand painted by a professional manicure. If you are like me still in the basics of the French manicure, then read the posts below about how to "French manicure yourself"

If you have pictures of your own French manicured nails

10 steps to do a French manicure yourself :)

  1. manicure: orangewood sticknail-polish remover
  2. facial tissue
  3. nail-file
  4. bowl of warm water
  5. orangewood stick
  6. hand-cream

  1. base-coat
  2. neutral nail paint
  3. white nail polish
  4. clear nail polish

  1. Remove old nail polish if any.

  2. With the nail-file, file your nails into a nice shape.

  3. Soak your nails in a bowl of warm water. This will soften your cuticles

  4. Now using an orangewood stick, you gently push the cuticles back.

  5. A trick from my girlfriend who learned this in the United States: apply some hand cream to the nails and rub the nails in with hand-cream. Leave the hand-cream on for 2 to 3 minutes. Then wipe your nails with facial tissue.

  6. On your clean nails: apply a clear base-coat and leave your nails to dry

  7. Then use a neutral shade or pale shade, that more or less matches the natural color of your nail bed. This is useful, as your French nails starts to grow and you want to enjoy them the longest without redoing your French nails. So using the neutral nail paint, paint the nails and leave to dry for a few minutes. Then apply the same neutral nail paint on your nails again. Let your nails dry once more.

  8. french-manicureNow start painting your natural white tip of your nail, of course using an (opaque) white or beige polish. If you want your French nails to look longer, you can polish a curve that follows the top of your natural nail. If you are happy with the length of your nail-tip, you can finish the white of your French nail in a simple horizontal line. Let the nail-paint dry.

  9. Finish your French nail with a coat of clear nail polish. This extra layer of nail polish will protect your hard work of French nail painting!.

  10. If needed, use an orangewood stick wrapped in cotton, dip it into nail paint remover and clean up any paint around your nail.

Your French nails are now ready to..... rest! Make sure you have a good movie on, as this is the time needed for your French paint to dry fully!.

French Manicure defined

French Manicure is a manicure or nail-treatment where the tips of nails are pure white. The "French Manicure Look" makes your nails look healthy and clean. It’s suitable for all occasions since it is "a natural"

The French Manicure works well for nails that are medium to long: 1/4” to 3/4.” (0.5 cm to 2 cm). In a French Manicure, the white nail polish is typically aligned with the edge of the finger. Some alternative French manicures also look very attractive:

  • You can have long nails with little white or

  • shorter nails with a lot of white.

Besides the color quantity and color combinations, there is the choice between the shapes of the French manicure nail tips:

  • round French manicure nail tips

  • oval French manicure nail tips, or

  • square French manicure nail tips.

To draw the white French manicure nail tips you can use a small paintbrush if you want the colour to spread evenly.
